2017 HOLIDAY PARTY FOR THE PHANTOM CANYON CHAPTER

The party was on Saturday, December 16th , from 6-10pm at the Elks Lodge in Boulder.

Brooks Brown handled all the arrangements for the Holiday Party this year.
Thanks, Brooks!

Since I had a conflicting event, I was unable to attend.
If you took pictures that are worth posting, please email them to me and I will add to this website and on our FaceBook page.
Have a great holiday season!

The next meeting will be in February, 2018 and you will receive an email about the date, time and location.

AUGUST PCC MEETING

Our August PCC meeting was hosted by Leonard and Jeri Dowe on August 19th at their home & shop in South Boulder. The meeting followed a delicious array of BBQ’d meats accompanied by many side dishes.
Thirty-six people attended.
Here are some pictures. If you took pictures and want them added, send them to phantomcanyonriders@gmail.com
Jeri Dowe put together an album of her many pictures here: http://bit.ly/2iAaMQg

ANTIQUE AIRPLANES FLY-IN

We have again been invited to attend a fly-in of the Antique Airplane Association of Colorado at a private runway in Niwot. Our Phantom Canyon Chapter attended this several times until the event was suspended for several years.

These are predominately “tail-draggers” and bi-planes from the 1930’s to 1960’s. It is great to see these old planes land on a grass airstrip and to tour these planes up close.

There are lots of photo opportunities with motorcycles next to the planes. Many of the pilots are former military or bush pilots and are very eager to tell you about their aircraft and even take riders up for a brief flight.

If you plan on attending this really unique event, ONLY OLD BIKES ARE ALLOWED (30 years or older). No new bikes, please!
If you have invited someone who does not have an old motorcycle, they may follow us in their vehicle and park along the dirt road prior that approaches our destination.

This is a difficult-to-find location so we will meet at the Hygiene Elementary School parking lot at 10:45am and ride about 3 miles to the grass airstrip.
We have scheduled this so that those who wish to go on to the High Country H-D vintage bike event may do so. As you can read in the flyer below, there are events at the fly-in that last into the night if you care to stay.

Contact Jon Erb at phantomcanyonriders@gmail.com if you have questions.

ROYAL ENFIELD IN THE U.S. MARKET!

A year after opening its initial North American dealership in Milwaukee (of all places!), India-based Royal Enfield says it is about to ramp up sales through 60 dealerships. They will be adding new bike models including one in the popular dual-sport category.

Known for its bikes that capture the essence of old-school motorcycling – a distinctive twin cylinder engine, basic construction and a relatively low price – Royal Enfield produced its first motorcycles in Britain in 1901, the same year Indian motorcycles began producing their iconic twin cylinder motorcycles in Springfield, MA.
